HAPKIDO
We do incorporate Hapkido in our upper rank Taekwondo classes. Below is the basic foundation of Hapkido. Arts.
Emphasis: Use of circular motion, posture and body movement to gain control of and disable an opponent. Joint locks, arm bars, pressure points, chokes, and weapons, throws and falls.
Class Structure: Begin with breathing exercises to focus concentration and energy. Students are constantly challenged with techniques and concepts. Practice often involves the redirection of an attacker's energy. All exercises are partner-based.
Goals: Beginners - broad, slow, fairly gentle movement. Advanced - lessen movement, gain and escape control. All - Decreased fear of discomfort. Close contact defense and attack with total confidence. Increased balance, better posture, greater poise. Practical knowledge of anatomy as it applies to techniques presented.
